I was always a very busy and active child growing up. Always trying to keep up with my big brother. We played baseball, soccer, and I was also in Track. I absolutely loved to dance. I learned ballet, clogging, country swing, hip-hop, jazz, and freestyle. My journey into fitness really began in 1999 at the age of 21, (which most 21-year-olds are thinking about partying at the bars, not me). I started with Group Exercise; such as, Step Aerobics, Bootcamp, and Strength Classes. I loved the way I felt mentally and physically.
We all have some variety of personal struggles growing up. It was safer to be outside than it was to be inside my home. My family life was very unhealthy growing up. I was born in 1978, and 9 months later, my mother committed suicide with my brother and I in the room with her, (which I later learned as a young child). With my abusive childhood, lead to abusive relationships. I also left home at age 15, got a job, and enrolled myself into night school, and graduated with a State Diploma. Several years into one abusive relationship, I fell into a deep depression with severe social anxiety. As I plummeted, I went from being 50 pounds over weight to within a year, losing 80 pounds. Everyone has a certain way to deal with stress, mine, was to not eat. As my health deteriorated, I saw a doctor at the age of 17. From the age of 17-21 years old I was prescribed every depression and anxiety medication on the market. We even tried Lithium which is used for Bipolar Disorders. The side effects were atrocious and yet I remained depressed with very high anxiety. One day I made the decision to take matters into my own hands, and stop taking prescriptions. I completely changed my entire lifestyle, and rid myself of the abusive relationship.
There is much more to my life story, but in short, regular exercise changed me mentally, physically and spiritually. I still continue to grow. I am still enjoying my journey of enlightenment, awakening, and soul healing. Letting go of all the walls I have built because of fears. I am so passionate about helping others find their happiness, just as I have, that I want to inspire as many people as I can in my lifetime, leaving a legacy of love, dedication, support and motivation! I will shine my light and love on the world.
